This scheme provides a light coloured variation within the Aviattic Sopwith 1 & 1/2 strutter line-up and gives it a very refined touch.

Dave Hooper's take on A1083

A1083 of n° 45 squadron is based on a single fairly grainy line-up photo and fairly unusual in that the fuselage is clear doped linen covered. It is not known who flew this aircraft. Like all the RFC aircraft it does not have any windows in the centre section of the upper wing. On the photograph there is also evidence that it had had some of the control surfaces replaced. The upper wing roundels have white lines around them, but the matching elevators do not appear to be outlined. The elevator appears to be in clear doped linen, but the horizontal stabilizer appears to be PC10. Wheel covers are speculative, based on other n° 45 squadron strutter wheel covers from the same period. I have included an optional black fuselage strip for those who want to follow Ronny Barr's interpretation of the aircraft. Personally, I think a red stripe was more likely. A1083 appears to have aluminium cowls."
